Nawaz urged to discuss vital issues with ObamaOctober 23, 2013
Karachi: The nations expects a positive outcome of the meeting between Pakistani Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and the President of United States of America Barak Hussein Obama and the Pakistani leader should discuss all vital issues including the detention of the daughter of the nation, Dr Aafia Siddiqui, openly and assertively, said Pasban Pakistan President Altaf Shakoor.
Addressing a demo in front of Karachi Press Club (KPC) here Wednesday, he said it is time that both Pakistani and American governments realize that the main issues affecting their bilateral relations should be resolved amicably. He said it is heartening to note that Mian Nawaz Sharif is taking a brave stance on the drone attacks, adding he should also convey the concerns of Pakistani nations about the prolonged detention of Pakistani woman scientist and educationalist Dr Aafia Siddiqui, who has already spend more than a decade in custody after being trafficked from a Karachi street along with her minor children.
He said the issue of killing of innocent Pakistanis in the CIA drone attacks is a serious human rights concern. He said even the Amnesty International has showed grave concern on it, saying these attacks are tantamount to war crimes against innocent civilians. He asked the Pakistani prime minister to raise this issue properly with the American administration so that these cold-blooded murders of innocent civilians may be stopped for good. He said there is need of taking strict efforts against terrorists, but not at the cost of wholesale waste of innocent lives.
Altaf Shakoor said that issues of Pakistan’s foreign debts and their colossal interests, energy crisis, Kashmir Issue and stability of the region should be discussed with the American leadership. He said there should be better and friendly relations between the governments and peoples of both great nations. He said these relations demands mutual respect and equal treatment. He said the era of master-client relations has gone and now the nations of world are focusing on developing relations based on the principle of equity and reciprocity.
A large number of people attended the demo including women and children. Carrying portraits of Aafia Siddiqui they demanded her early release and repatriation.
