NDMA inaugurates Women Child Center in Mirpur

National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has inaugurated Women and Child Center in earthquake-hit village Afzalpur of Mirpur.

Chairman NDMA Lt. Gen. Mohammad Afzal Australian High Commissioner Dr Geoffrey Shaw and United Nations Fund for Population Activities Country Representative Lina Mousa inaugurated the center.

After the inauguration NDMA handed over the welfare centers to Azad Kashmir Social Welfare Department.

On this occasion the Chairman NDMA said that the government has provided five hundred thousand rupees each to the heirs of the martyrs of the Mirpur earthquake.

He said that the government is aware of the problems faced by the locals and will make every possible effort to support them.

He said construction work of the demolished homes will begin in the next few days.
