Ambassador Mazen Khuffash submitted Thursday his credentials to Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Malki, as first Nicaragua’s envoy to Palestine, after the Central American country decided this week to open an embassy in Ramallah.

Malki welcomed Khuffash and said that choosing an ambassador of Palestinian origin proves the role and importance of the Palestinian community in Nicaragua. He added that Managua has always supported Palestinian rights in international forums.

Khuffash expressed joy at being the first Nicaraguan ambassador to Palestine, stressing that he would work towards strengthening ties between the two countries.
