Al-Othaimeen is scheduled to deliver a speech at the conference, in which he will highlight the position of the OIC on the Syrian crisis, as well as the political and humanitarian support provided by the Organization over the past three years.

The secretary general will also reaffirm the OIC’s support for the efforts of the United Nations, the European Union and other international actors to find a fair political solution, based on the Geneva I Communique, in conformity with the aspirations and ambitions of the Syrian people and preserves the territorial integrity of Syria and guarantees its security and stability.

The event, hosted by the EU, will review the pledges made by the donor community at last year’s Brussels Conference, call for further support in 2018 and beyond, and highlight the crucial role played by neighboring countries, particularly Turkey, Lebanon and Jordan, in supporting Syrian refugees.
