Jeddah, (UNA-OIC) – The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned, in the strongest terms, the terrorist attack on Mar Mina Church in the southern Cairo neighborhood of Helwan.

The assault that occurred last Friday left several people dead and injured. OIC Secretary General Dr. Yousef Al-Othaimeen offered his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families of the victims, and his wishes for prompt recovery to the wounded. He also reaffirmed that the OIC continues to stand in unison with Egypt in combating terrorism and extremism and protecting its security and stability.

The secretary general stressed that the OIC stands shoulder to shoulder with Egypt in all measures taken to foil the designs of terror organizations and groups and preserve the security of the nation and the safety of its people.

Furthermore, Dr. Al-Othaimeen commended the vigilance of Egyptian police officers, pointing out that the desperate terrorist attempts orchestrated with the foul objective of undermining the country’s security and stability will not take away from the unity of the Egyptian people.

The OIC is firm in its stance rejecting all forms and manifestations of terrorism and violent extremism, Dr Al-Othaimeen reaffirmed.
