OIC Consultative Council on Women to hold 3rd meeting in Istanbul today

The Consultative Council on Women, emerging from the Islamic Ministerial Conference on Women’s Developmental Role for the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), will hold its third meeting Thursday in Istanbul, at the invitation of the Ministry of Labor, Social Services and Family of Turkey � the Conference Chair.

The meeting is being organized in coordination with the OIC General Secretariat, with the presence of Turkish Labor, Social Services and Family Minister Mrs. Zehra Zumrut Selcuk, and Council Chair Mrs. Israa Al-Bairaq.

As well as examining OIC concept paper on gender policies, the meeting will follow up on implementation of the outcome of the Council’s previous meetings, and discuss the Council’s activity report, which will be presented to the seventh session of the Islamic Ministerial Conference on Women’s Developmental Role scheduled for 30 November through 1 December 2018 in Burkina Faso. It will also discuss the role of the Council in ensuring the Conference’s success.
