OIC welcomes outcome of Yemeni peace talks in Sweden

Jeddah The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) welcomed the progress achieved by the Yemeni sides during the latest peace talks in Sweden, as they agreed to a ceasefire in Hodeidah and the withdrawal of Houthis from the Red Sea port city.

OIC Secretary General Dr. Yousef AlOthaimeen confirmed the Organization’s support for a comprehensive peaceful solution that preserves the territorial integrity of Yemen and its stability, on the basis of UN Security Council Resolution 2216, the Gulf Initiative and the outcome of Yemen’s National Dialogue conference.

AlOthaimeen congratulated the Yemeni people on the ceasefire agreement that will allow access of humanitarian aid for the citizens affected by the conflict. He also affirmed OIC’s firm and principled position in support of Yemen’s legitimate authority and the solidarity of the Organization with the Yemeni people in all circumstances, as well as its support for the international effort aimed at bringing about a comprehensive peace deal based on the agreed references.
