OIC welcomes transitional authority deal between Sudanese parties

Jeddah Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen welcomed the important agreement reached between the Sudanese Transitional Military Council (TMC) and the Declaration of Freedom and Change Forces (DFCF) alliance, to develop the structures and arrangements of the transitional authority.

The Secretary General expressed his deep satisfaction at this remarkable positive step, which would contribute to the stability and security of Sudan, as well as to building a comprehensive development program that would primarily serve the Sudanese citizens.

Al-Othaimeen underlined the importance of both parties’ commitment to this historic agreement and to accelerating its implementation. He also considered the agreement a distinct model reflecting the awareness of the Sudanese people and their keenness to develop their country.

The Secretary General praised the national, regional and international efforts that contributed to the striking of the power-sharing deal, stressing the readiness of the OIC to harness its potentials to support security, stability and development in Sudan, in line with resolutions adopted at the level of the Islamic Summit and the Ministerial Council.
