Operation against criminals be continued: KCCI

Karachi: Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s KCCI President Muhammad Haroon Agar has stated that to restore peace in Karachi operation against criminal elements should be continued.

He opined that it was the prime responsibility of the government to take sustainable and concrete safety and security measures ensuring effective implementation and delivering visible results to provide safety and security to the business and industrial community as well as Karachiites.

Exchanging views with Sultan Khawaja, DIG Police, during his visit to KCCI, Agar stated lawlessness in the markets of Karachi, particularly in the old city area, Jodia Bazar, Cloth market and other markets at MA Jinnah Road had shaken the confidence of the business and community which must be restored. Rampant criminal activities like extortion bhatta, kidnapping and killing, dacoities in the markets and industrial areas had caused widespread fear and harassment, he added.

Sultan Khawaja stated that the provincial government had full confidence in the police department and was supporting them to take every measure to control deteriorating law and order situation and maintain peace in Karachi. He appreciated the role of KCCI in protecting the genuine rights of the business community. He also admired the initiative of Police Chamber Liaison Cell PCLC whereby KCCI was playing an imperative role to support the business community through this cell which was manned by police staff being operated 24/7 and 365 days.
