Opposition back government to struggle jointly for the province’s rightsMarch 6, 2014
Peshawar: Parliamentary Leaders of all political parties on Thursday while supporting the government for the struggle of province’s rights jointly demanded of the federal government to ensure fair distribution of resources among the provinces and un-cape the net hydel profit from Rs 6 billion annually.
Briefing the media after the parliamentary leaders’ meeting which was participated by Pakistan Muslim League (N), JUI, ANP, Qaumi Watan Party, Awami Jamhoori Ittihad and Jamat-e-Islami, Senior Minister Sirajul Haq said all the parties agreed to shun political differences and jointly struggle for the rights of the province.
He said that Rs 4221 billion have been allocated for Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) however only 59 billion have been spent in Khyber Pukhtunkhwa which is a mockery with the province as it is very minimum amount and become only 1.7 % of the total amount while province must get 14 % of the total amount allocated for PSDP projects.
Siraj said that PSDP projects in the province should be launched without any further delay and Lowari Tunnel which has to be completed in two years time have been delayed therefore it should be completed to facilitate the people of the area.
Similarly, Siraj said that as per the constitution province should be given priority in gas provision so electricity could be produced of Thermal Electric project.
He said that billions have been received on the name of terrorism affected areas therefore besides giving details of such amount province should be given due share of this amount which to be spent for the uplift of the terrorism affected areas and the people.
In the meeting PML (N), JUI, QWP, AJI, ANP and JI parliamentary leaders supported the government stance for the rights of the people.
