Oxford to organize talk on Ghalib

KARACHI: Oxford University Press is organizing a talk on Mirza Asadullah Khan Ghalib by Bari Mian and Wajid Jawad. The two well-known literary connoisseurs will recite and discuss the verses and letters of this greatest of Urdu poets.

Bari Mian Farangi Mahali is the president of the Hasrat Mohani Memorial Society and has been an active member of Karachi’s literary and art scenes. His forthcoming publications are A Selection of Urdu Ash’ar and Selected Couplets of Hafiz.

Wajid Jawad is a publisher and an expert on Ghalib. He is well known in the Karachi literary circles as a respected scholar and critic. The talk will be held on Tuesday 3 December, at the Oxford Bookshop, Khalid bin Waleed Road, Karachi, from 6 to 7 p.m.
