PAC to begin audit from Dec. 31,Shah

Islamabad: The newly formed Public Accounts Committee will begin audit of various ministries‚ divisions and federal institutions from 31st of this month.

The committee headed by Syed Khursheed Shah will take up audit of the accounts of the Election Commission of Pakistan‚ Ministry of Information‚ Broadcasting and National Heritage and Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development in its first session.

The PAC has to audit around 15‚000 audit paras of the last eight years sent Auditor General in his reports.

A meeting of the principal accounting officers of all federal ministries and divisions will be held tomorrow in Islamabad to discuss issues regarding functioning of PAC.

The PAC has also written a letter to all the federal secretaries that departmental accounting committees (DACs) were not convened by certain ministries and divisions and constitutional bodies which was causing unnecessary delay in disposing of the pending audit.
