Pak athletes prepare for a forceful show in Special Asian Pacific Olympics

Karachi: A strong contingent of sixty special athletes and 18 coaches will participate in the inaugural Special Olympics Asia Pacific Games 2013, which are scheduled to be held at Newcastle, Australia from December 1-7.

Athletes from 32 countries with 2000 plus athletes and 600 plus coaches will represent their respective countries in the eight-day mega event.

The sports in the tournament included are aquatics, athletics, badminton, basketball, bocce, football, table tennis, cricket and tenpin bowling.

Special Olympics Pakistan has 17000 registered players, who have intellectual disabilities. Players from Pakistan will participate in seven male and five female events. The contingent comprises of 39 male and 21 female players.

The head of delegation Pakistan is Anis-ur-Rehman and Deputy HOD is Ronak Lakhani.
