ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Mauritius agree to promote bilateral relations especially in the fields of religion, tourism, agriculture and culture.
This was agreed in a meeting between High Commissioner (HC) of Mauritius, Mhd. Rashad and Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Sardar Muhammad Yousaf here on Friday.
The minister said Pakistan is also a multicultural country and the minorities are enjoying all rights as per constitution of Pakistan and the development funds of the minorities are non-lapsable which are spent on their welfare.
The HC informed the minister that the Muslims community of Mauritius identify itself with the flag of Pakistan at all remarkable places and occasions over there as many public places have been named after Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Iqbal Muhammad Iqbal.
Pakistani Ulemas have served too much to the Muslim community in Mauritius as many Qaris and Ulemas visit Mauritius every year especially in the month of Ramadan for Traweeh prayers as there is freedom to practice belief for everyone. Urdu is also spoken there and Rupee is our currency, the HC added.
The minister assured the HC for admission of Mauritius Ulemas for religious training in Pakistani Islamic institutions after the later requested for the purpose. The minister also appreciated the attachment of the Mauritius Muslims with Pakistan.
The HC informed the minister that Deputy Prime Minister of Mauritius Dr. Rasheed is visiting Pakistan in the third week of this month and also invited to the minister for visiting Mauritius at a suitable time, which was accepted by the minister.
The HC informed the minister that 2000 Muslims from Mauritius perform Hajj every year and they want to learn from the experience of Pakistan about the Hajj operation as Pakistan has successfully handled all the matters of Hajj this year which is recommendable.
