PALPA’s Fly Smart plan can save Rs18bn per annum for PIASeptember 2, 2013
Karachi: Pakistan Airline Pilots’ Association PALPA and the management of Pakistan International Airlines PIA have decided to work jointly to steer, the national asset, clear of current crisis so that it can achieve its past glory.
A meeting in this regard was held recently between the PIA management and a delegation of PALPA which was also attended by Secretary Aviation and Acting Chairman, PIA Muhammad Ali Gardezi and Additional Secretary Aviation Amjad Toor, says a release.
PALPA President, Captain Suhail Baloch informed the meeting that the FLY SMART program suggested by PALPA is ready for implementation which will help the national airline to save Rs 19 billion annually.
PALPA also offered its assistance to set up a proper flight watch for flight operations department of the airline which would enhance the coordination of PIA operations and through which an expeditious and effective flow of flights can be maintained.
In other measures PALPA offered its help to the management of the national airline, assistance in co-branding; IFE upgradation in order to have extra revenues; to develop a mobile application App; and upgradation of PIAC website.
The meeting was informed that PALPA is already assisting the PIA management regarding the induction of efficient narrow body aircrafts which could generate potentially huge revenue in millions on daily basis.
President Palpa appreciated the vision of Chairman PIA and his team stating they are working in the right direction. “The guidance being provided by the Secretary Aviation is steering the airline on the right path and all ranks of employees support this endeavour which is badly needed to turn the airline around,” he said.
“Mr. Gardezi is not only providing guidance to the national flag carrier’s management but has also initiated the much awaited accountability drive which will set the course right, and will also help stopping the continuous bleeding of PIA revenue,” he added.
At the end of the meeting, the PIA management thanked the delegation of the Palpa for their support and vowed to work jointly for the betterment of the national airline.
