PILER condemns killing of social worker

KARACHI: Executive Director, Pakistan Institute of Labour Education and Research PILE Karamat Ali, on Tuesday strongly condemned the target killing of a social worker and human rights activist Abdul Waheed near Qasba Colony in Karachi the other day.

He expressed anguish over the coldblooded murder of an activist and condemned the failure of police to protect the life of the deceased social worker, who had been receiving life threats.

Karamat Ali said Waheed had been receiving threats from fundamentalist and terrorist groups to stop imparting education through his private school. He had recently received life threats on start of a Polio vaccination camp in the vicinity of the school.

He paid tribute to services of late Waheed for education of the children of poor community of Qasba colony, Katti Pahari and Orangi areas.

He demanded of the government to make serious efforts to arrest the culprits and punish them exemplary.
