PM will consult political parties on drone attacks & terrorism: Ch NisarJune 20, 2013
Islamabad: Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan has said the Prime Minister is considering to extend invitation to the chiefs of political parties for talks on two-point agenda of drone attacks and terrorism.
Speaking in the National Asssembly on Wednesday‚ he said all the political parties and the nation should stand together on the issue of drone attacks and convey a clear message to those carrying out these attacks that Pakistan is not a banana republic.
The Minister said the meeting will also be attended by the Chief of Army Staff and the heads of intelligence agencies because they are also the stakeholders. He said the government is preparing a working paper on terrorism and in this regard talks are being held with the security and military institutions.
Endorsing the proposal of Chairman Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf Imran Khan for electoral reforms‚ Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan invited Tehrik-e-Insaf to bring a bill on electoral reforms and the government will fully support it.
He said the government believes in accountability and will soon propose a panel to the opposition for the appointment of new Chairman NAB. He assured that the new Chairman will be appointed with consensus in consultation with the opposition parties. He said the process of accountability should also start from this House and in this connection his party proposes the constitution of an ethics committee.
Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said the next two years are very difficult and all the political parties should frame a joint agenda to address the national issues including economy.
Regarding the proposal of Imran Khan for inquiry into rigging in the recent polls‚ he said the government will welcome constitution of an independent commission to investigate the irregularities. He said that action should be taken against those found involved in the poll rigging.
