PMA greets 3 health related lawsMay 9, 2013
Karachi: Pakistan Medical Association PMA has greeted three health related laws, terming it a welcome step to improve healthcare sector.
President PMA Karachi Dr. M. Idrees Adhi, and General Secretary Dr. Qazi M. Wasiq said the Sindh Health Commission Bill Ordinance, Thalassaemia Prevention Bill Ordinance, the Mental Health Bill Ordinance being promulgated in Sindh by Governor Dr. Ishratul Ebad Khan would greatly facilitate people and healthcare professional. They said the Health Commission Bill was a dream of PMA which has finally come true as an ordinance. PMA has been striving for the formulation and passage of this bill for the last one decade.
They thanked the caretaker Minister of Health Dr. Junaid Ali Shah who took keen interest in solving the long awaited health issues in a very short duration.
The MPA leaders said the health delivery system in the country has been in poor shape since a long. Day in and day out incidences of violence occur in different public and private hospitals resulting loss of lives and property. There is no law in the country to ascertain the reality behind the death of a patient at any health care centre. In case of any death in the hospital it is difficult to know with certainty whether it is natural or due to negligence of the doctors and the hospital staff.
