PMA stages protest rally, boycotts OPD in Larkana

Larkana: Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) leaders announced Wednesday that on Thursday (tomorrow) they will stage large sit-in on busy Pakistan Chow (roundabout) which will continue till arrests of the accused involved in attacking their colleague and transfer of SSP Khalid Mustafa Korai from Larkana.

Meanwhile, the doctors of Pakistan Medical Association (Larkana Chapter), Chandka Teachers Association & paramedics boycotted OPD duties at 11.30 am in Chandka Medical College Hospital, due to which the OPDs of Shaikh Zaid Hospital for Women, Urology-Nephrology Department, Main OPD at Civil Hospital, Paeds Medicine OPD remained closed. However, the emergency patients were treated at the hospital.

The OPD patients coming to this 1352-bed y Teaching Hospital of upper Sindh faced a lot of problems due to OPD closure.

The protesting doctors staged a rally which started from Paeds Surgery Block and terminated at Larkana Press Club. The speakers in their speeches demanded protection to doctors and better policing system in the district.

PMA President Dr. Shah Baig Chandio told PPI that despite registration of FIR against attack on a doctor, the Larkana police have done nothing as yet to book the offenders. He said they will continue their protest and boycott till the Larkana SSP Khalid Mustafa Korai is transferred.

PMA General Secretary Dr. Ikran Tunio said that their struggle will continue till the culprits are brought to justice. He said that they have decided that they will stage sit-in on Thursday at the Pakistan Chowk which will continue till the arrest of the accused and transfer of the SSP.
