Political victimisation: SHC notices CM, DIG, other respondentsSeptember 25, 2013
KARACHI: Sindh High Court SHC on Wednesday issued notices to Chief Minster Sindh, deputy inspector general of police Hyderabad, SSP Thatta and other respondents on a petition filed by the supporter of Shirazi family against alleged police harassment.
A single bench of SHC, comprising chief Justice Maqbool Baqar, also issued notice to the advocate general and prosecutor general Sindh and adjourned the hearing of the case by October 10.
The petitioner Ganwhar Khan, resident of village Malhar Jakhro of Jhampir, Thatta, cited chief minister Sindh, DIG Hyderabad, SSP Thatta, DSP Jharak, SHO Jhampir, and private party as respondents.
The petitioner submitted that he supported Sheerazi family of Thatta in the general election; hence he added that he was being victimized by police on behest of ruling party PPP. He said that since last week that Thatta police had bent upon misusing their official authority under the instruction of the chief minister.
He said that SHO Jhampir called him and asked him to leave area and added that private respondents were very influential persons having support from the members of ruling party. He said that he was not allowed to enter Thatta. The court was prayed to restrain the respondents from harassing him.
