Poultry rates slashed to a record low

KARACHI: Metropolitan Commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui on Tuesday reduced the rates of live poultry head by Rs30 per kg and its meat by Rs 40 per kg, which is a record.

This was announced by the metropolitan commissioner while presiding over a meeting at his office here. The new rates of live poultry has been reduced to Rs 170 per kg from Rs 200 per kg, while its meat price has declined to Rs 280 per kg from Rs 320 per kg, the commissioner informed.

He said that poultry rates had been reduced under people’s welfare policy and no pressure in this regard would be tolerated. Siddiqui said that Poultry Association had raised the live poultry rates several times at its will time and again and had also created artificial poultry shortage after which a notice was taken and this decision had been made to provide relief to the people.

The commissioner asked the people to purchase poultry at new rates and reject old high rates. He also advised retailer sellers not to purchase poultry at high rates.
