Power dues: Villagers block roads against electricity disconnectionFebruary 13, 2014
Naudero, Sindh: The villagers of Kehar Goth held a protest demonstration, blocked main Larkana-Naundero road early Thursday morning against disconnection of electricity supply to their village due to bill default.
The agitating villagers were chanting slogans against SEPCO authorities.. Due to road blockade rows of vehicles were seen standing.
One Ibrar Gaad said a local tribal chief had asked villager to block the road to force the government to restore electricity as their guava orchids and other crops including wheat were suffering due to closure of electricity-run tube-wells. He said by disconnecting of power supply has caused immense problems for people.
Meanwhile, people of Bharchoond Village also held protest demonstration and blocked main Larkana-Sukkur Road near Shahnawaz Bhutto railway station crossing against disconnection of electricity supply.
Villagers Bashir Bharchoond, Mureed Bharchoond, Iltaf Jakhro, Wazir Jat, and others told reporters that due to electricity disconnection incidents of theft have rose.
The agitating villagers were later joined by the villagers of Panjudero whose electricity is also disconnected due to the same reason.
Meanwhile, SDO Naundero subdivision, Ghaffar Abbasi told PPI that on the directions of higher authorities power supply has been disconnected to more than 10 villages of his area due to electricity theft and non-payment of arrears. These villages include Kehar, Wandh Ali Muhammad Kertio, Ghanwar Bhatti, Hassan Wahan, Metla, Panjudero and Gajani Goth. He further said that arrears of over Rs13million rupees are outstanding against these villages but the villagers are reluctant to clear their dues.
