President Zardari informed about flood situation

RATODERO: President Asif Zardari was informed about the prevailing condition of flood water in Larkana Division through video link briefing held in the Commissioner officer here on Wednesday.

MNA Faryal Talpur chaired the briefing in which MNA Nazir Bughio, MPAs Muhammad Ali Bhutto, Khursheed Junejo, Sardar Chandio, newly posted commissioner Saeed Mangnejo and five deputy commissioners of Larkana division and SSP Larkana Syed Pir Muhammad Shah were present.

Faryal informed the President that as many as 160532 people have been affected by the recent rains and current flood water in the division out of which 12017 are in Larkana district and three persons have died, 10500 in Qambar district, 310 in Shikarpur district, 32190 in Jacobabad district and 105515 in Kashmore district.

She further informed him that 12 relief camps have been established in Larkana, 10 in Qambar, 3 in Shikarpur and 23 in Kashmore district. She further told the President that district administration of these areas is also providing medical facilities and food to the affected people staying in the camps and added that there is no danger to the Bunds and the situation is under control.

Zardari in his replying speech said that monsoon rains have been forecast for September 03 for which he directed to prepare full plan in advance so that no untoward situation could occur. President also lauded the efforts made by his sister Faryal Talpur during the rains for the affected people. The President also directed the irrigation staff to remain vigilant over the Bunds and perform their duties round the clock. He also directed them to provide irrigation water to the tail end growers as he has seen their complaints in the Newspapers.
