Probe into over Rs7.5m bank fraud underway

NAUNDERO: An investigation team from head office has arrived here to conduct probe into over 7.5 million irregularities in a local bank.

The cash, bonds, travellers cheques, gold, have verified prize bonds, travellers cheques, ATM machine cash and found it okay.

Both the key holders of the bank, Head Cashier Munawar Soomro and Officer Grade-I Muharram Leghari have been taken into custody by the police. A formal letter would be sent after proper verification and inquiry by the bank authorities to the FIA (Bank Circle) for probe.

Munawar Soomro is still under treatment at Medical Unit-I of Chandka Hospital in Larkana after surviving suicide attempt. He was also visited by Regional Manager of Bank Mushtaque Shaikh. Soomro told Shaikh weepingly that he had lost above mentioned cash in gambling and he also sold shops, his home and ornaments but did not learn lesson.
