Program evaluation through self-assessment

Karachi: Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) of Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS), an initiative of Higher Education Commission (HEC) has always been engaged in taking innovative measures for the assurance of the provision of quality education.

Recently, the team of QEC professionals held an awareness session on Program Evaluation through Self-Assessment to meet the mandatory requirement of HEC pertaining to ensure the quality, efficacy and sustainability of each degree program.

Ms. Suraiya Khatoon, Deputy Director, QEC was the Resource Person, while Bilal and Aasma Kulsoom were the facilitators.

The session was arranged for the faculty and top management of Institute of Nursing, DUHS Ojha Campus that is offering BS program in Nursing. RN program in Nursing and Master program in Nursing in three different specialties; Women’s Health, Paediatric Nursing and Cardiac Nursing.

The session aimed to implement Self-Assessment Cycle to judge the overall standing of undergraduate and postgraduate programs being offered in nursing to identify the strengths and areas for improvement by highlighting the efforts and to recover the gaps for achieving the national and international excellence.

By the help of Self-Assessment Report based on prescribed guidelines from

HEC, grading of program effectiveness and constructive feedback that supports the accomplishment towards value learning and upgrading gradual progress can be ensured.
