KARACHI: The newly appointed Chief Executive Officer, Pakistan Steel Mills, Saadat Cheema while addressing a meeting of high officials of the mill at Operations Building Pakistan Steel said that PSM has started producing 28 to 30 MW of electricity from its own resources.

The Chief Executive Officer further advised the concerned management to make efforts to increase the current production capacity. Cheema further said that PSM had a status of backbone of the economy of Pakistan and we all should work together for its revival and rehabilitation.

PSM is a national asset and all national institutions must cooperate for its revival. CEO PSM was apprised of the current situation of the Corporation by PEO (Production) Wasif Mehmood. The CEO was further apprised that PSM administration had gone to all possible levels with KESC for the restoration of electricity, but sadly the stubborn and adamant behaviour of KESC administration had increased the miseries of Pakistan Steel.

Despite the payment of 250 million to KESC, its has not restored high voltage 132 KV line which has further added insult to injuries of PSM. The administration also apprised CEO regarding the media trial and non-serious attitude of KESC. During the meeting, a letter was also written to CEO KESC by CEO PSM requesting to immediately restore electricity to PSM. The letter also contains the payment schedule proposed by PSM to KESC. CEO PSM hoped that KESC would help PSM to pull it out of the current crisis, as this is not only effecting national economy but the thousands of families which are directly and indirectly linked with it.
