PTI blasts NADRA for charging thumb impression feeMay 22, 2013
Karachi: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf PTI on Wednesday blasted National Database and Registration Authority NADRA for charging thumb impression verification fee from poll rigging hit candidates.
This was expressed by PTI leader Firdous Shamim Naqvi while addressing a press conference at Insaf House here. He said that charging thumb impression verification fee from candidate affected by poll rigging is unjustice, he said and asked the government would it return fee to the applicant if his case against rigging is found correct.
Naqvi said that government or rigging culprits should have to pay fee for verification of thumb impressions. He demanded of ECP and the caretaker government to hold re-election in Karachi and other areas where rigging was conducted during general elections 2013.
Naqvi suggested ECP should hold random thumb impressions verification on ballot papers at each polling booth and take further steps if rigging signs are found. He said that ECP secretary had admitted its failure in Karachi about polls fairness; so why it does not hold re-polls in the metropolis.
He said that new generation believed that change would come through ballots but ECP were throwing them on the other way by its attitude. PTI leader said that their party is fighting against rigging.
To a question about Zahra Shahid murder case, Naqvi said that they were waiting for police investigations and would become party at any time as per law. PTI leader said that their party had changed protest strategy and now it would hold protest once a week.
PTI leader Ashraf Qureshi said on the occasion that fee for verification of thumb impressions on ballots papers should be charged from those who committed rigging.
He said that their leaders and candidates were being threatened in Karachi. Qureshi said that no one had right to disgrace others’ leader and such an attitude should be stopped in Karachi.
Qureshi demanded of Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to take suo moto notice of massive rigging in general elections 2013 across the country, especially in Karachi.
PTI leader Subhan Ali Sahil said that PTI would not take weapons against opponents, but it would fight through its ideology and vision. He said that Karachiites were already disappointed by the politics of terrorism, extortion and lawlessness, but now they believe that PTI would rid Karachi of these evils deeds.
He assured people that their party would meet their expectations. He demanded of Chief Election Commission of Pakistan Fakhruddin G Ebrahim to hold re-polls in Karachi under the supervision of army and army should be present inside and outside the all polling stations.
PTI leaders Erum Butt, SM Jabbar, Israr Abbasi, Riaz Hyder, Raja Azher and others were also present on the occasion.
