Punjab govt sends relief goods to Balochistan

Karachi: The Punjab Government in order to extend cooperation with the earth quake victims of Balochistan has so far provided 7958 food hampers, 1800 flour bags of 10 kg, two and half truck loaded medicines, 10150 tents, 360 blankets and 5000 mosquito nets to Baluchistan government.

Whereas a delegation of senior officers of Punjab government and members of provincial assembly including Member Board of Revenue Shumail Khawaja, DG Punjab Disaster Management Authority PDMA and Asif Mazari, MPA has arrived here at Karachi Sunday to assess the ongoing process of relief activities and knowing the further requirements regarding the earliest rehabilitation of victims of recent earthquake.

The above mentioned information about the relief goods was disclosed during the meeting of the delegation with Secretary Excise & Taxation Qambar Hashti who had been detailed as Chief Coordinator for Earthquake Relief Activities by the Baluchistan Government here at Hub boundary today. The delegation inspected in detail the relief activities and discussed in detail the steps to accelerate the relief activities process in a comprehensive way.

Simultaneously from Hub Chowki, Punjab Member Board of Revenue, Shumail Khawaja also phoned to Chief Secretary, Baluchistan Babur Yaqoob Fateh Muhammad and shared views with him regarding the effective and solid measures to be taken for the rapid delivery of relief goods to the maximum earthquake victims in the shortest time.

He informed him that DG, PDMA would stay in Baluchistan till the betterment of earthquake areas. The steps regarding relief activities at Lasbella Relief Office set up by the Punjab Government were being taken into knowledge of Chief Minister Punjab, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on daily basis and a plane C130 of CM Punjab had been at the disposal of Baluchi brethren till their rehabilitation, he added.
