Qasimabad area of Hyderabad shut to protest against rigging in polls

Hyderabad: Complete shutter down strike was observed in Qasimabad town of Hyderabad on the call of Awami Tehreek to protest against alleged rigging in elections in PS-47 constituency. The activists of Awami Tehreek blocked the roads and set the tyres on fire.

All the shops, business centers and petrol pumps remained closed in Qasimabad, Sehrish Nagar, Bhittai Nagar, Marvi Town, Hussainabad and other localities. The rangers and police were deployed to control the situation in case of any untoward incident.

The Awami Tehreek activists staged demonstration at Naseem Nagar roundabout and blamed PPP of rigging the polls. They rejected the results and demanded the fresh elections under the supervision of army.

Awami Tehreek president Ayaz Latif Palijo had contested elections from this constituency.
