Rawalpindi: At least three young men washed away in Nullah Lai near Ratta Amral on Tuesday. According to media reports rescue officials said that one young man was saved, while the search for the remaining two was in progress.
Rescue staff and their divers were frantically trying to find them out from the flooded Nullah Lai where water level was fast increasing. Meanwhile army has been called for rescue and relief in Gawalmandi area of Rawalpindi after heavy rain along with thunder lashed the twin cities Tuesday morning.
Due to flooding in the Nullah Lai, the met department issued red alert over the alarming situation while the Rawalpindi administration instructed the residents of the nearby areas to evacuate.
Many low lying areas were emerged in the rainwater while several roads of Islamabad and Rawalpindi were also blocked, causing a massive traffic jam.
In the last 24 hours, 54 mm rainfall was recorded in Peshawar, 49 mm in Risalpur, 47 mm Islamabad and 30 mm in Sialkot. The met department had forecast widespread rain and thundershowers with scattered heavy falls in Punjab, including Islamabad, during the next two days.
