Rally taken out against attack on Hindu doctor

RATODERO: All doctors working under the banner of Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Larkana brought out a rally, held demonstration and blocked SSP-DIGP office roundabout here on Tuesday.

The protesters staged sit-in against murderous attack on their colleague senior Dr Partab working at Institute of Child Healthcare of Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMCH) Larkana took place on Monday evening outside his private clinic.

The injured doctor is in Karachi for treatment. The protest was also joined by All Pakistan Clerks Association members, paramedics of Chandka Hospital, Hindu Panchayat of Larkana, business community, shopkeepers and a large number of doctors. The protesters were chanting slogans against Khalid Mustafa Korai, SSP Larkana, demanding his immediate transfer to bring back peace in the home district of Bhutto leaders.

The protest was led by PMA President Dr Shah Baig Chandio, General Secretary Dr Ikram Tunio, Advocate Kalapna Devi of Hindu Panchayat, Aijaz Mirani of APCA, Zulfiqar Sahto & Shahi Jagirani of Paramedics and others.

They marched from Chandka Hospital after boycotting OPD duties through VVIP road and reached SSP/DIGP office roundabout where they staged sit-in and blocked main 4-way traffic. Their protest terminated at Larkana Press Club but before that they also held protest demo at Jinnah Bagh roundabout.

While addressing the protesters Dr. Chandio announced that from tomorrow work at all hospitals, including CMCH, BHUs, THQs, RHUs, OPDs, Wards will be boycotted and no doctor would perform duty anywhere except emergency department as it would continue to provide medical services to the patients to save their precious lives.

He further said that SSP Larkana is most inefficient policeman and he must be transferred out of Larkana without losing a single day, otherwise crime would continue to rise. Dr Chandio further said that during his posting, all previous crime records had broken which was enough proof that he was most incompetent police officer.

He further said that 35 people had been killed during tenure of this SSP and score of burglaries were made throughout the district. He demanded lodging of FIR and arrest of the accused involved in attacking the senior doctor.

Paramedics led by Sahto and Jagirani announced that they would boycott OPDs but ward duties would continue. APCA office-bearers led by Aijaz Mirani and their members also boycotted their duties and did not resumed throughout the day.

They further added that they would took out a rally and stage sit-in on Wednesday to press the government to arrest the accused involved in carrying out such criminals act against doctors. They also demanded strict security to the medical professionals and the hospitals so that doctors could perform their duties peacefully.

Advocate Kalapna Devi said that Hindus are a peaceful trading community and from Wednesday they would close their business against injustice being committed on the.

She said that SSP Larkana had completely failed to eliminate criminals as if the gangsters have been allowed to carry out their activities without any check by the concerned police stations, DSPs and SSP Korai. She demanded immediate replacement of Larkana SSP to bring back normalcy in Larkana district.
