Revised schedule of summer vacations criticized

Naudero, Sindh: Office-bearers of Government Secondary School Teachers Association (GSTA), Primary Teachers Association (PTA), Mehran Teachers Association (MTA) of Larkana district, parents and teachers have expressed concern on the decision of Sindh Government to observe annual summer vacation this year from 14th June to 13th August, 2013.

Talking to media said the teacher associations leaders said Punjab Government has announced to observe summer vacations from 01st June to 14th August 2013. They said the summer vacations are observed in the country keeping in view the scorching heat wave.

They said that when older people remain indoors due to hot weather coupled with prolonged electricity load shedding then how innocent primary school students would study in this very hot weather.

Rashid Chandio, President GSTA and Liaquat Deedar, President, PTA, Larkana chapter said that the parents also consider this decision as illogical. They said ministers and bureaucrats sitting in the air-conditioned offices have no thought about the sufferings of schoolchildren of poor and low income families.

They further said that the intermediate examinations are also being conducted now which too have created lot of problems for students due to hot weather and frequent electricity load shedding. They said that it is almost impossible for a minor school child to return home at 1.30 pm from the school in extreme hot weather and they could suffer from sunstroke.

They demanded of the government to immediately withdraw this decision and ensure implementation of old system of vacations keeping in view the electricity failure and hot weather.
