Rs 75bn allotted for BISP‚ Senate informed

Islamabad: The Senate was informed Thursday that the total outstanding amount against Etisalat for purchase of 26 percent shares of PTCL is 799.30 million dollars out of total 2.59 billion dollars.

Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on behalf of Finance Minister told the House during question hour that Etisalat International Pakistan (EIP) has been delaying further payments on the ground that all properties included in the share purchase agreement have not been transferred in the name of PTCL.

He said Privatization Commission is pursuing and facilitating the process of transfer of properties of PTCL of which 3117 have been transferred while 131 remain to be transferred.

To a question‚ the Minister said the government has directed the Privatization Commission to initiate the privatization activities of 32 identified entities in a phased manner.

Replying to a question‚ Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said the amount allocated for Income Support component of Benazir Income Support Programme in the current budget is 75 billion rupees.

Replying to a question‚ Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said this year there has been a record production of fertilizer in the country.

He said government is committed to provide gas to all the fertilizer companies and the import of urea will be totally stopped in next two years.

To another question‚ Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal said human development is being given high priority by the current government.
