Rs 98,500 fine charged from profiteers

KARACHI: In operation against profiteering and adulteration of commodities like milk, vegetable and other eatables, Karachi administration have challaned 68 shopkeeper and charged Rs 98,500 fine from them for selling eatables above government rates.

This was informed by Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui in a report issued on Tuesday pertaining to latest actions taken against profiteers in various parts of Karachi. He said that actions against profiteers were taken in Shah Faisal, Korangi, Gulberg, Garden, Site, Airport, Bin Qasim, Liaquatabad and Gulshan-e-Iqbal.

“Such actions will be continued against retailers until they sell their goods at government rates,” commissioner Karachi said.
