Saudi Media Minister Dr. Awwad bin Saleh Al-Awwad, who is also chairman of the General Commission for Audiovisual Media, handed over here on Wednesday the fourth license for operation of cinemas to Lux Entertainment Company, in partnership with Al-Hokair Group for Tourism and Development, Sinopolis International and Al-Taeir Group.

The partnership seeks to establish some 300 cinemas in 15 cities and towns across the Kingdom within five years.

On 11 December 2017, the General Commission for Audiovisual Media (GCAM) approved the issuance of licenses for those wishing to open cinemas, in order to support the film sector to stimulate economic growth and diversification as well as providing job opportunities in new areas, in line with the Kingdom’s ambitious Vision 2030.
