SC directs AVCC to arrest two absconders in Karokari matter

KARACHI: Supreme Court of Pakistan directed head of the Anti Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) to ensure that two absconders involved in the kidnapping of freewill couple, who were declared liable to be killed in the name of Karokari, are arrested.

A three-judge bench of apex court headed by Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was seized with hearing of the human rights application of Ameerzadi, seeking recovery of her son Israr Ahmed Soomro and her daughter in law Fakhrunnisa Narejo, who were declared liable to be killed in the name of Karokari.

She submitted that she had lodged a case against father and relatives of her daughter-in-law for kidnapping the couple. She said that six accused involved in kidnapping of the couple Ali Akbar Narejo, Asghar Ali Narejo, Amin Ali, Rab Nawaz, Haq Nawaz and Abdul Latif Narejo were sentenced to 10year imprisonment by a trial court while two accused Ghulam Rasool and Mumtaz Ali Narejo were declared absconders.

On the direction of apex court, an enquiry team was formed by police for recovery of the freewill couple, but couple still no had been recovered them.

During the hearing, the bench grilled the police about the two absconders. The police told the bench that absconders had fled to Balochistan.

The bench directed the head of the AVCC to ensure that two absconders are arrested and submit report in the court.
