SC withdraws contempt of court notice to Imran KhanAugust 28, 2013
Islamabad: The Supreme Court on Wednesday withdrew contempt of court notice to Pakistan Tehreek Insaaf PTI Chief Imran Khan.
A three member bench of the apex court discharged the notice after hearing the arguments of Attorney General Munir A Malik in the case who said that it is not the matter of disobedience.
A three-member Supreme Court bench headed by Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali heard the contempt case.
Later talking to media persons‚ Imran Khan said that he believes in an independent judiciary and his comments were not meant against the top institution.
He again demanded detailed investigation into election rigging in four constituencies and said that the role of Returning Officers should be made transparent.
Imran Khan said that his party does not want any kind of confrontation with the Supreme Court. He said that his party’s stance about Returning Officers is clear.
