Senior lawyer, his two sons gunned down in Karachi

Karachi: A senior lawyer and his two teenage sons were killed in an early Tuesday morning attack in Karachi while violence claimed four other lives in different parts of the city since midnight.

Advocate Kausar Saqlain Abbas left home in his car to drop his two sons at a school near Tower when armed attackers ambushed his vehicle on Mauripur Road at around 8:30am.

The attackers fired multiple shots on the vehicle and managed to flee, killing the two kids – 14-year-old Muhammad Aon Abbas and 12-year-old Muhammad Owais Abbas – on the spot while Kausar Abbas was critically injured receiving several bullets in his head and chest. Police and rescue teams shifted him to the hospital but he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police said it was an incident of target killing. Kausar Abbas was advocate in Sindh High Court and a member of Karachi Bar Council (KBC).

Meanwhile, the KBC and Sindh Bar Council condemned the killings and boycotted proceeding of courts in SHC and District Court Malir.
