Ratodero, Sindh: Sindh government has constituted separate exhumation board for Sukkur and Larkana divisions. The Sindh Government has finally agreed to the demand of the Vice Chancellor, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SBBMU) and Medical Superintendent (MS) of Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMCH), Larkana, and Health Department issued a partial modification order on February 28, 2014 modifying its previous order dated: 05.7.2002, under which districts have been separated of Sukkur & Larkana divisions for conducting Exhumation Boards between Ghulam Muhammad Mahar Medical College Hospital (GMMMCH), Sukkur & CMCH Larkana which were previously carried out by CMCH only.

Both these officers had pinpointed the security reasons due to which the expert doctors were reluctant to go to these far flung areas and return back during darkness without police escort.

The Exhumation Board for Sukkur now includes the districts of Sukkur, Khairpur, Ghotki and Kashmore and CMCH will carry out exhumation in Larkana, Kambar-Shahdadkot, Shikarpur and Jacobabad districts. Each Exhumation Board consists of Medical Superintendent, Professor of Pathology, Forensic Expert and Police Surgeon/Assistant Police Surgeon of these respective Teaching Hospitals of upper Sindh.

The post of Police Surgeon (BS-20) is vacant at CMCH since last over eight months due to which Assistant Police Surgeon of BS-18 is always conducting such boards. No Police Surgeon has so far been posted at GMMMCH in Sukkur since its establishment and APS is carrying out all boards there as well and this can be termed apathy on the part of Health Department managers which must be looked into thoroughly despite availability of officers who are enjoying waiting for posting leisure.
