Session of D8 Commission starts

Islamabad: The two-day event of Developing8 countries known as D8 started here on Monday to review the progress made in intraD8 cooperation in several areas.

Advisor to the Prime Minister on National Security Sartaj Aziz inaugurated the two-day session with highlighting the importance the further cooperation of the group.

Pakistan in its capacity as the Chair of the Developing8 Organization for Economic Development, is hosting the 33rd Session of the D8 Commission.

The D8 Commissioners from Member Countries Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan and Turkey and D8 Secretary General Dr. Syed Ali Mohammad Mousavi are attending the meeting.

The leaders of member countries had adopted in Islamabad for the first time in the D8 history, key documents including the organization’s Charter and its Global Vision for next two decades, apart from adopting the Islamabad Declaration 2012.

Particular importance on the agenda of the meeting is the review of D8 Agreements relating to facilitation of trade and business among member countries.
