Seven killed, six injured in Karachi violence

KARACHI: Seven people were killed and six others injured in separate acts of violence here on Thursday, police said.

The body of an unidentified man bearing torture marks was found near Golden Farms in Haji Sukhan Goth within the remit of Khokhrapar police station. It was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for medicolegal formalities.

Police said the victim was gunned down after being badly tortured by unknown culprits. The identity of the victim could not be ascertained till filing this report.

Separately, Muhammad Bux, 20, was gunned down by unknown armed men near Asma School in Khayaban Rahat, DHA, Phase-VIII within the limits of Darakhshan police station. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medicolegal formalities.

Police said the cause of the incident was a personal enmity.

Similarly, Syed Imran Naqvi, 32, son of Anis Naqvi, was gunned down by unidentified armed men outside his house near Lasbela within the limits of Gulbahar police station. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medicolegal formalities.

Police said the cause of the incident was sectarian violence.

A policeman was killed and other three persons, including a cop and a woman, were injured in firing by unidentified bike riders near Teepu Sultan road within the limits of Ferozabad police station. The body and injured were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medicolegal formalities and treatment respectively.

Police said unidentified culprits opened fire on a police mobile near Hill Park and left a policeman Nazir Ahmed dead and other three injured, including a woman Robina. Police said the injured woman succumbed to his injuries and other injured were also in critical condition.

In another firing incident, Adnan, 35, son of Iqbal, was gunned down by unidentified bike riding armed men at a shoe shop near Liaquat Market in Malir within the remit of Saudabad police station. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medicolegal facilities.

Police said the victim was the owner of shoe shop in Liaquat Market. Similarly, Nadeem, 35, son of Fareed, was gunned down and Zahoor Ahmed wounded by unidentified armed men driving a car near Safari Park within the limits of Gulistan-e-Johar police station. The body and injured were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medicolegal formalities and treatment.

Fareeda, 40, wife of Nazir Ahmed, was injured in firing by unknown armed men near Naseem Plot Market in Lasbela within the premises of Gulbahar police station. The injured was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment, where her condition was stated to be out of danger.

Earlier, Umair, 30, was injured by unidentified bike riders near Sindhi Hotel in North Karachi within the limits of New Karachi police station. The injured was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, a young man, Shehzad, son of Muhammad Akram, was injured in firing by unknown armed men near his house at Bilal Masjid in North Karachi, Sector 4L within the remit of New Karachi police station. The Injured was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment.
