Islamabad: Search For Common Ground SFCG Pakistan has published an illustrative guidebook and manual entitled Youth Radio for Peace Building to help Pakistan’s youth, radio journalists and broadcasters for producing programs that supports youth involvement in building tolerance, social cohesion and collaboration at community level.
This colourfully designed and illustrated handbook has been published in both Urdu and English versions, and it can easily be downloaded from the website www.pakistanpeaceinitiative.net.pk. The methodologies described in Youth Radio for Peace Building are particularly relevant to youth of our society and journalists working in the mass medium of radio.
It is packed with rich tools, techniques and examples to help youth, radio as well as other media professionals and peace activists to design and produce impact based radio programs that can inspire and mobilize listeners to build peaceful communities by using the Common Ground Approach. The guidebook also discusses intergenerational cooperation and helps senior professionals to manage their working relationships with youth.
The Youth Radio for Peace Building guidebook is part of SFCG Pakistan’s national level “Pakistan Peace Initiative: Promotion of Dialogue for Peace building through Media and Youth Mobilization in Pakistan” project that is engaging all spectrums of Pakistani media, youth, community leaders and government officials to foster greater collaboration towards constructive dialogue, increased understanding of local tensions, and issues of key importance, thereby fostering increased moderation and tolerance across the country. Supported by the Danish International Development Agency DANIDA, the PPI project is being implemented by SFCG Pakistan and its partner organizations in 25 districts of Pakistan, including FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu Kashmir.
SFCG Pakistan has published a series of freely available guidebooks and manuals to help media professionals, women politicians, and youth and community leaders to effectively work in their respective fields for building a peaceful Pakistan.
Search for Common Ground Pakistan works to transform the way communities and societies deal with disagreement – away from adversarial approaches and towards collaborative problem solving. We work with local partners to find culturally appropriate means to strengthen societies’ capacity to deal with disputes and disagreements constructively: to understand the differences and act on the commonalities.
