SHC directs DUHS to allow third year student taking exam

Karachi: The Sindh High Court SHC on Thursday directed the Dow University of Health Sciences DUHS to let a student of third year to sit in annual examination.

A division bench headed by Chief Justice Mushir Alam was hearing the petition filed by a third year student, Zehra Fazal Khan, who approached the court seeking court directives to Dow University for allowing her to sit in of third year’s Examination being held since May 21.

The court without conceding any right of petitioner to be eligible or ineligible for appearing in examinations, directed the authorities to permit her to sit in exams as she has already missed one paper. However, it restrained the authorities from announcing her results.

The court ruled that it will not be considered or presumed that she has been permitted by the court to be eligible for appearing in examinations her result and eligibility to appear in examination would be subject to court orders.

It directed petitioner to deposit a sum of Rs4000 with Nazir of the court as fee and respondents to issue challan to her.

The hearing of case was adjourned to date later be fixed by court’s office.
