SHC Election Cell receives complaints

Karachi: The election cell set up in the Sindh High Court SHC has received over 30 complaints pertaining to polling.

Election cell, which was set up to coordinate with the returning officers in connection with public complaints about polling, also received various complaints through telephone that polling staff and polling material specially ballot boxes had not reached the polling stations of Karachi, mainly in South district.

According to official, Muhammad Shahid Shafiq, a district returning officer filed complaint with election cell submitting that few culprits and activists of a political party abducted polling staff of 25 polling stations of NA250. He stated further that ballot boxes were not allowed to supply non sensitive polling stations.

Another complainant, Dost Muhammad Rahimoon who contested election from NA230 stated that in Tharparkar votes cast at more than 15 polling stations were set on fire and at 39 polling stations open rigging was carried out by his political rivals.

Meanwhile, several complaints pertaining to rigging, violence at polling stations and illegal occupation of polling stations throughout province were received by the election cell.
