SHC issues notice to Bijarani, others on petition against political vendetta

Karachi: The Sindh High Court SHC on Thursday issued notice to the Pakistan Peoples’ Party Parliamentarian PPPP candidate on provincial assembly seat PS19 and respondent police officials for their alleged involvement in setting on fire the houses of supporters of rival candidate.

The petitioner Kareem Dad, resident of village Kareem Dad Banglani, district Jacobabad submitted that he along with his clan supported Jamiat Ulemae Islam Fazal JUIF candidate from PS16 constituency against the PPPP candidates Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani who won the provincial assembly seat.

He alleged that in order to revenge from him and his clan for their support to JUIF candidate, PPPP’s winning candidate along with police officials and other private respondents attacked their village and set on fire their many houses. He said that his two sons, 3 years old Noman and 3monthsold Afaq were burnt to death.

He said that assailants looted their valuables which included ten tolas of gold and Rs0.4 million cash.

He prayed to court to direct the official respondents to lodge FIR against the PPPP candidate and pay compensation of damages caused by him and other respondents.

The petitioner cited home secretary, IGP Sindh DIG Larkana, deputy commissioner Kandhkot at Kashmore, SSP Kandhkot, DSP Tangwani district Kandhkot, SHOs Karampur, Shabbirabad and Dera Sarki police stations, winning candidate of PPPP on provincial seat Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani, and others as respondents.

After hearing the arguments, a division bench headed by Justice Sajjad Ali Shah issued notice to the respondents and adjourned the hearing to May 30.
