SHC issues notice to IG Prisons, deputy in contempt application

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday issued notice to the Sindh inspector general of prisons and deputy inspector general prisons in contempt of court application for allegedly disobeying the court orders.

The petitioner, Feed Well approached the court submitting that the IG Prisons and DIG Prisons has defied the court orders by awarding the tenders for the supply of food to jails to some blue eyed persons. The petitioner said that court had directed the IG Prisons to receive the tender forms but restrained him from awarding tender without permission of court.

He submitted that IG prison acting in defiance of the court order opened the tender on August 2, 2013 and awarded same to persons of his choice. He prayed the court to initiate contempt of court proceedings against the IG prisons and DIG prisons.

After hearing arguments, a division bench headed by Justice Muneeb Akhtar issued notice to alleged contemnors.
