KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday directed home secretary, director general Rangers, provincial police chief and other police officials to submit their comments on a petition seeking whereabouts of a missing man allegedly picked up by paramilitary forces.

A division bench of SHC headed by Justice Sajjad Ali Shah was hearing a petition filed by Muhammad Saeed who sought whereabouts of his missing brother Shahid. The bench issued notices to respondents and adjourned the hearing of the case by 13 January 2014.

The petitioner submitted that rangers took away his brother along with his licensed weapon from his residence in Laiqatabad Town on December 23 and since then his whereabouts were unknown to his family.

He said that he approached the SHO Liaqatabad police station for seeking information about the arrest of his brother but they refused to divulge any information and also rejected his application for recovery of his brother.

He said that his brother was not involved in any criminal activity. He requested the court to order the law enforcement agencies to produce his brother in the court.
