SHC suspends notification appointing Junejo as special advisorJuly 25, 2013
Karachi: Sindh High Court SHC on Thursday suspended till further orders a notification appointing Pakistan People’s Party leader, Muhammad Khan Junejo as Special Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh.
The suspension order came on a petition filed by Pakistan Muslim League-Functional PMLF leader, Mir Khan Khoso, who challenged the appointment of Muhammad Khan Junejo as special advisor to chief minister. A division bench of SHC headed by Justice Ghulam Sarwar Korai also issued a notice to chief secretary, principal secretary to governor Sindh and Muhammad Khan Junejo.
The petitioner through his counsel submitted that Muhammad Khan Junejo was appointed as Special Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah through a notification issued on July 10, 2013.
The petitioner said that Supreme Court, upholding the Sindh High Court order, had disqualified Mohammad Khan Junejo who won the election from PS81 Sanghar for holding dual nationality.
He contended that as per law a person, who has been disqualified from contesting elections, cannot be appointed as special advisor. Hence, he prayed the court to suspended the notification of the appointment of the Muhammad Khan Junejo, who was disqualified by the court.
