Sindh offers vast power generation opportunities: Ibad

Karachi: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan has said that there are vast opportunities in Sindh province to generate electricity, especially from garbage and coal.

This he said while talking to a delegation of China Wind Power Company (CWPC) and KASB Bank, led by CWPC chairman Li Ren Chao and KASB chairman Arif Ali Shah Bukhari that called on him in the Governor House.

He said in Karachi more than 100000 tons of garbage is available daily for electricity generation, while the projects to generate electricity from coal could be started near ports.

The Chinese company having experience in both fields showed its interest in these projects.

The governor lauded the friendly relations between Pakistan and China, saying both the nations are cooperating with one another in many fields including infrastructure, energy and agriculture. He said there are vast opportunities of even wider economic cooperation which would also help in poverty alleviation.

Li Ren Chao told the governor that his company was working on a power project at Port Qasim Karachi.

The governor said Sindh province including Karachi provides a win-win situation for investors and the government would fully facilitate them.
