Sindh to register 7000 smuggled vehicles

Karachi: Caretaker Sindh Minister for Excise and Taxation Syed Shabbar Zaidi has said that as per Federal Government’s policy online physical verification and verification of National Identity Card from NADRA website is very important for registration of smuggled vehicles.

This he said, while talking to journalists during inauguration of counter for registration of smuggled vehicles at Civic Centre, Karachi. He said that only those vehicles would be registered which will have NOC by customs and all other relevant documents.

He further said that, there are more than 7 thousand smuggled vehicles in Karachi and their registration would add a handsome amount in the National Revenue.

He also said that important steps had been taken to eliminate corruption from the department. Caretaker government made suggestions for elected democratic government but the way to stop corruption is to establish an automation system in Excise & Taxation Department so that taxes can be paid online.

Provincial Minister further said that after the establishment of automation section, tax payers would not be fatigued by visiting offices again & again and added that 6 to 7 such offices would be established at central office in Karachi.

Syed Shabbar Zaidi issued directives to the staff of Excise and Taxation Department that all clients that come for registration process should be well facilitated and those who are fund involved in corrupt practices would be dealt strictly.

On this occasion Secretary Excise & Taxation Department Wasim Ahmed Ursani, Director General Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui and other senior officers were also present.
